Your First Visit
You have decided to book your first appointment for counseling.
Congratulations!
You have taken an important step in your growth and healing. This page will tell you what you can expect on our first meeting.
My office is located in the Sol Counseling Center at 3400 Kerbey Lane. You can find directions and a map here.
There is a small amount of paperwork to complete so it is helpful to show up a few minutes early on the first visit. No one enjoys filling out forms, including me, so I promise to keep it to the bare minimum. These forms describe your rights, privacy and confidentiality – all good things to know before starting counseling.
My rates are $85 per 50 minute session for couples or individuals. I also have a limited number of sliding scale appointments available based on financial need. I accept cash and checks only unless prior arrangements are made. Fees are due at the time of treatment.
I respect your time and the time of the person before and after your appointment. It is my intention to start on time and end on time each visit. At ten minutes until the end of the session we will bring sharing to completion, schedule our next appointment, and pay any fees that are due.
These are the practicalities of beginning therapy. On an internal level, you can get the most out of therapy by keeping an open mind, open heart and be willing try something new. As the session progresses, notice how you are feeling about the environment and the way we connect. Our first session is an opportunity to see if this will be the right fit for both of us.
